HP TouchPad: Massive Demand
on Aug 25 in ebook publishing, newspaper and magazine publishing by adminAs I’m sure most people are aware, Hewlett Packard dumped the price of their TouchPads just days ago and a frenzy ensued. The 16 gb model dropped from $399.99 to just $99.99 and the 32 gb model went to $149.99 from $499.99. Numerous sources hold the build of materials cost to be at about $300, so at these lower prices HP and/or the retailers have taken a bath on the sell out.
After speaking to numerous BestBuy and FutureShop outlets, the device sold out in mere hours after it went on sale. And speaking with a BestBuy store clerk yesterday, calls about the device from consumers were still rolling in about every minute. Sickdeals.com also got hammered with some 3 million hits in just 24 hours after the TouchPad’s price crashed.
If you can manage to get one at such a low cost, it’s worth it. It’s one of the best non-iPad tablets going. Head on over to the Pre Central forums for lots more information, tips, and tricks.
